Essay Course 1. / 2. Sek

The essay course takes place over a period of five weeks in a small group of 4 to 8 students. During the course students will become familiar with the four types of essay required for the entrance exam for the Gymnasium in the Canton of Schwyz: argumentative essay, narrative, description, and report.

Each course day follows a clear structure: at the beginning, the key concepts of the respective essay type are taught over 45 minutes. Students then write their own essay under exam-like conditions (65 minutes).

The essay is corrected by the teacher and returned to the student with detailed feedback. Students receive their corrected text via chat during the following days. Subsequently, they revise their essay based on the feedback and submit the revised version to the teacher on the next course day.

On the final course day, the key concepts are briefly reviewed. Afterwards, students write another essay and can freely choose the text type.
